"Since January 2015, I’ve served as Georgia’s State School Superintendent. In that role, I’ve visited schools all over the state, from the mountains to the metro to the coast. I’ve seen great work taking place in classrooms all over Georgia – more innovation than I could’ve imagined before assuming this position, and I’ve been a public school educator for 22 years.
I wanted to create a place where those innovative ideas could be shared – to provide a platform to share the good news of Georgia’s public schools at the statewide level. This is a place for educators, parents, business leaders, legislators, and community members to come together, learn more, get involved, and share ideas.
For that to happen, we need you to connect with Educating Georgia’s Future. Please bookmark the link to this website, and follow us on social media at the links below:
And if you’re in a Georgia classroom and you see something great happening, share that with us! Send anything you’d like to share to Matt Cardoza, GaDOE Communications Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On these pages, you’ll learn about innovative instruction, great teachers and students, successful partnerships, and so much more. We face many issues in public education, and we’re committed to tackling them head-on. But there’s so much good going on as well, and we’re also committed to identifying the educators, students, and partners doing great work and shouting that from the rooftops.
Thank you for your support of public education. I’m excited to take this journey with all of you!"
Richard Woods, a 22-year public school educator, is Georgia’s School Superintendent.
