The state competition keeps technicians on their toes as they work to keep their skills sharp. The competition combines both written and hands-on skills testing with a networking opportunity for technicians. Testing is developed and updated by America’s Best organizers using criteria specified by the National Congress for School Transportation. The written test is made up of test questions that assess the participants’ knowledge on body systems and special equipment, diesel engines, drive train, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical and electronic systems, and air conditioning systems and controls.
The 2018 State Technician’s Competition was held Monday, June 4, 2018 in Dahlonega. This year’s competition winner is Jeremiah Bradberry from Cobb County! Because Jeremiah was the 2017 America’s Best Competition Winner, he is unable to compete. State Runner-Up Denver Foster, of Fannin County, will represent Georgia in Kansas City, MO at the National Technician’s Competition in October 2018.
