Welcome to the second installment of Georgia Readers, our series featuring kids who love books and want to share that with their peers.

This time we talked to Joshua Fogle, a fourth-grade student at Arbor Springs Elementary School in Coweta County Schools. Joshua was recommended by his teacher, Judie Hardin, who described him as a voracious reader who reads “all the time across every genre” and gives great book recommendations for other students. We talked to Joshua about his favorite books, his all-time favorite characters, and more. This interview has been lightly edited for length and clarity.

What do you love about reading?
I love reading because when you read a book it’s like it takes you to another world in your mind. You get to see what the character sees. It’s awesome!

What’s the best thing about enjoying a good book?
The best thing about enjoying a good book is you get to see the story through the character’s eyes. It shows you what the character is going through. When you see the story through the eyes of the characters it’s just AMAZING.

What’s your all-time favorite fiction book? What about non-fiction?
My all-time favorite fiction book is the series Keys to the Kingdom. Keys to the Kingdom is about a kid who tries to get all seven keys so he can save the House, which is what the world is called in that book. My favorite nonfiction book is any book about wolves. I like books about wolves because they tell me about wolves and what to do if I ever find myself in a situation with one.

What are your favorite genres?
My favorite genres are realistic fiction and science fiction. I love those genres because they tell an awesome story that could only happen in your imagination. I love realistic fiction because it has a chance of happening.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading a book series called Beyonders. The author is Brandon Mull. The book is…magical because it has things that won’t ever exist, like wizards.

What are your favorite characters from books you’ve read?
From the book Beyonders, my favorite character’s name is Jason. I think Jason rocks because he has fought against magical animals and escaped death many times in the book. From Fablehaven, the character’s name is Kendra. I think Kendra is awesome because she has powers and fights well.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Reading is important to me because it will be a helpful thing that will help me get a job. And reading rocks!!!!!!!*

*Ed. Note: We totally agree.
