“Back to School!”
Those three words signal the start of another great year and the incredible chance to impact, engage, and most importantly, educate our students.
As one of more than 115,000 teachers across Georgia, what you do as a classroom teacher provides the unique opportunity to connect with a small group of youngsters and mold them as your own. They are like sponges whose world, for the next 180 days, will largely revolve around what happens in your room. Next spring you will send them out into the world smarter, wiser, and better prepared to take the next step.
Our students are the reason we teach.
Anytime we’re faced with a new or challenging task, the best way to conquer the challenge is to grab a partner! Find someone who shares a vested interest in getting the job done and will make your mission theirs and their mission can also become yours.
Partners understand that the goal is bigger than the individual and when you work together, there is a magnifying effect that amplifies the abilities of the individual to achieve greater results. Partners understand what you do as a teacher really matters.
You may already have a teaching partner, but don’t miss this chance to reach outside your normal comfort group and find others within the larger community who will walk beside you, serve as an accountability buddy, and help to complete any task.
Every day this year, you will have the opportunity to make an impact on your students’ academic success, their emotional well-being, and their outlook on life. It is a great responsibility.
I wish you much success this school year. I look forward to meeting many of you in my travels across the state and hope you’ll provide me the opportunity to partner with you and celebrate your successes!
All the best!
